The structure of the Saguaro is PVC plumbing pipe covered with chicken wire and mounted on a wood base. Strips of Batik fabrics were sown together with prairie points in some of the seams to represent cactus needles. Strips of stabilizer were attached to form the pleats and cording was used in the "valleys" and attached with an upholstery needle and thread, catching the chicken wire underneath, and a needle-felted Desert Wren peaks from a "boot" in the Saguaro's flesh. The base is painted sand color and covered with glue. While wet, gravel and sand were tossed in the glue to depict the desert floor. A A Rattle snake and small cacti accent the scene.
